What is Retargeting / Remarketing?

Remarketing lets you show ads to users who've previously visited your website as they browse the web. Your ad will be shown to people on other websites AFTER they have been to yours but not purchased!

Remarketing is a powerful way to stay engaged with your target audience. Presenting them with highly relevant ads and offers across the web -- and making sure your brand is top of mind when they’re ready to buy.

But can I suggest you take a look at this simple Google video which explains the principles very well. I know they are dealing with the specifics of Google Adwords, but the principles are identical across all advertising platforms.

Facebook Exchange (FBx)

The Facebook Ads platform got much more advanced in recent months with the introduction of a new feature, Facebook Exchange (FBx), that expands the reach and custom targeting of their ads. Facebook Exchange (FBx) allows you to run the real-time bidding and remarketing of Facebook ads through one of their handful of partner companies (AdRoll, AppNexus, Brandscreen, and Triggit are 4).

Our Click through rate has gone from 1% to a very credible 4.5%
Our average cost per click has dropped from 87p to 63p (just remember some clicks are still £2+).
Our average position has gone from 5.4 to 4.6
